I arrive at an appointment armed with fabrics and accessories, we work through each room picking the fabrics…. but then, the conversation of which heading is best for your curtains!!!
I immediately think of 2 basics – contemporary or traditional interior?
If contemporary and the fabric will suit it, I do love an 80mm wave, but you have to be super wary of which fabric you choose so they hang correctly – no dodgy synthetics!
Eyelets give the same stack back, but I generally no longer sell these – not sure why, just not my fav.
Singe pinch is a happy medium as when stacked back it looks similar to the wave, but you still have a nod to traditional – and you can puddle if you fancy.
Double pinch – a step closer to the triple pinch and probably my best selling look overall.
Tab tops, Tie tops and pencil pleats I generally try to stay away from, unless specified by a customer as they generally hang fairly badly and stack back terribly.
So, for the traditional look it would have to be the triple pinch, possibly with a pelmet to co ordinate.
With all these ideas there are so many things to consider, as different headings have different poles/ tracks they hang well on, then you need to consider linings!
To sum your window dressings up…. it is not as simple as it initially sounds. I’ve been in the industry now for 16 years so am perfectly informed to give you the best advise.
